We are very excited for the Seussical Performance this Friday and Saturday at 7:00 PM. Our students have been working very hard over the past few months to prepare for these performances. Break a leg kids! This year the kids will literally be flying around the Lakeside Auditorium. Mrs. Booz and Ms. Zeiters promise us that it will be a performance to remember!

Last week we hosted an ESSA and School Improvement Planning session for parents. We would like to thank the two parents who attended. We were able to talk about some of the things going well at LMS and things to improve.

Please note that there is NO SCHOOL on Wednesday, March 7 due to Teacher In-service! 

Millville Youth Empowerment Summit - Say YES TO LMS! 
Mark your calendar for the first Millville Youth Empowerment Summit on Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Lakeside Middle School. This Summit will feature exciting workshops on topics such as leadership, mindfulness, careers and health and wellness. There is no cost tot the Summit and there is free food and giveaways! Students and parents can pre register at by clicking here. We hope you will join us for the Summit!

After many months of hard work, our Lakeside LIVE News is officially up and running! While we originally planned to have it on the television like before, constant change in technology has led us to pursue a different angle. Beginning Monday, March 5th, announcements will be LIVE streamed on our new YouTube station. Be sure to click here for the link and subscribe to our channel!

As of now the Family Friendly Trip to the 76ers on March 19th is sold out!  I repeat the Family Friendly trip to the 76ers is SOLD OUT! 

Attention students: Black and white pictures are still needed for the yearbook. Please upload them as soon as possible to hjeshare.com and use the code Lakeside18. See Mrs. Sooy with any questions.

One fish, two fish, how about a Hershey kiss? On March 9th and 10th at 7pm the Lakeside Music Department will be performing Seussical Jr! Show the cast some love starting Monday March 5th.  For only 25 cents you can purchase a Hershey Kiss and write a cast member a note.  They will be delivered to them at the end of the Saturday performance.  Just remember to look for the "Kiss the Cast" cart during lunches and purchase them soon!

The Lakeside Drama Club is proud to announce that the production of Seussical, Jr will be presented on Friday, March 9 and Saturday March 10th.   The show starts at 7:00pm and the tickets are $5.   Please come out and support your friends.  We have aspecial feature this year....some of our cast members are FLYING!!!   We hope to see you there!

Winner of the Week - Mrs. Loprogolo and her Math Class - This week her class applied ratios to real life. They simplified ratios to create icing colors. The kids enjoyed not only mixing colors but also eating the finished project.

We are excited for another amazing week at Lakeside Middle School! On Monday, February 26, 2018 all parents are invited to LMS to learn about the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) and help us with our School Improvement Plan for the 2018-19 School Year. The meeting will be from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM in the DMC. You can enter through the front doors or the 6th grade entrance.

Daily Announcements
Lakeside Wrestling finished the season with a win against Lower Cape May regional by the score of 24-12. Impressive pins and wins by Carlos Rosa-Colon, Anthony Kukal, Anthony Romero, Juan Romero with two pins, Jose Bravo, and Elijah Edwards.
Lakeside Wrestling pay attention for upcoming announcements on uniform drop off after school. Don’t forget about the hoodies.  Great finish BOLTS!

Hello Lakeside Family! Gabby Akiatan would like to sincerely thank everyone who has supported her Diaper Drive. We have collected a total of 1,103 diapers and 1,646 single baby wipes! All the collected diapers and baby wipes will be delivered to the Cumberland County Catholic Charities Diaper Bank this week.

The boy’s basketball team beat Alder Avenue 38-33 in their final home game of the season. Keyvon Harrell led all scorers with 11 points. Also, Calem Bowman added 9 points and Jabbaar Barriento contributed to the win with another 8 points. The boys close out the season Monday away at Pleasantville.

All members of student council must stop by to pick up the Millville Youth Empowerment Summit papers - Everyone must return the form completed with a parent signature.  Due Friday March 2 

It’s time for track and field sign – ups. If you think you are fast or strong or both, then sign –up for the Lakeside Track and Field Team. Sign-ups are located in the cafeteria. If you sign – up, be sure to take home the parent information sheet that will be located next to the sign-up list.

We are collecting Box Tops again.  Your homeroom teacher should have given you a collection sheet so don't delay.  Bring your box tops or filled collection sheets in by February 26th.  There will be great prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place homeroom winners.

Tickets are still on sale for Lakeside Family Friendly Night at the Philadelphia 76’ers Game (76ers vs. Charlotte Hornets) on Monday, March 19th. Bus leaves Lakeside at 5 and returns at 10:30. Tickets are $25 cash (only-no checks accepted) per person and food will be provided at 4:00 p.m. at Lakeside before the game. Permission slips are available in the main office and can be turned into Ms. Benfer.

Thank you and our Black History Fact of the day is: Marvel's BLACK PANTHER, the first global superhero blockbuster with an African American director and a mostly black cast,  set records for a February opening and for a Presidents Day weekend debut.  Black Panther's sales is ranked as the fifth highest domestic opening weekend of all time.

On March 22 we will have our Luck of the Irish Spirit Day! Wear green or St.Patty's Day clothes and donate $1.00 for our 7th grade charities!

On February 8 we have our Valentine's Day Red Out Spirit Day! Wear all red or Valentine's Day clothes and donate $1.00 for our 7th grade charities!  

 

The 7th graders have a busy and exciting December! On December 6, the 7th graders will be going to see the play, The Giver. There will be information about the trip being sent home soon!

On December 21, we  will be having our Ugly Holiday Sweater Spirit Day.  Wear your ugliest holiday sweater! It is a $1.00 to participate and all profits earned will be donated to our 7th grade charities! Our charity speakers will be coming in to discuss each charity on December 22.

The 7th Grade Candy Grams will be sold on December 1! Send a message of encouragement or holiday cheer! All profits earned will be donated to our 7th grade charities!

Our first Spirit Day is on November 6 - Blue out Bullying! Wear Blue and donate $1.00 for our 7th grade charities!

 

The 7th Grade  Candy Grams are on sale now! Send a message of encouragement to start the school year off on a positive note or simply to wish a friend "Good Luck!"

All candy grams will be delivered in homeroom on Friday 9/29. See the 7th grades sales volunteers to purchase a candy gram after announcements during homeroom! 1.00 with a treat and .50 cents for just a message! Thank you for supporting the 7th grade charities!

 

Let's unite as a school to strengthen Mallory's Army and spread the message to stop bullying! Purchase a Mallory's Army bracelet, sweatshirt, or t-shirt to help the 7th grade Blue Out Bullying in support and memory of Mallory Grossman. See the 7th grade sales volunteers during homeroom in room 217. Order forms are available.

 

We will be having Spirit Days this year! If you would like to help out with this fundraiser, please go to Room 211 to sign up. Our first spirit day is Blue out Bullying on November 6, 2017. Wear blue!!!! It is a $1.00 to participate and all profits earned will be donated to our 7th grade charities!

What a memorable day  when Cory Weissman came to speak to us. He told us his story and was so inspirational! Cory was genuine, down to earth, positive, and touched us all. He taught us how to overcome obstacles and that everything happens for a reason! Cory Weissman you are a true hero!

 In 2016 the 7th Graders had a great day meeting the author,Ty Drago! He taught us all so much about writing! We are inspired to become better writers and achieve all our dreams!See you on the Red Carpet!
